Elvis Presley’s Bible is up for auction in England—details here. It apparently has a number of marginal comments written in it by its former owner. The one reported in the article reads, “To judge a man by his weakest link or deed is like judging the power of the ocean by one wave.” Elvis was raised as a Christian, but became an adherent of ‘New Age’ religious ideas in later years.

In his Christian phase, he must have dated an Episcopalian: ‘Get out your little Prayer Book, get down on your knees and pray,’ he sang in 1955, adding ‘You’re going to need your loving Daddy’s help some day.’

I hope he finds that help himself when the day comes.
